How to Download TikTok Videos (Any Device, No App)

Downloading a TikTok video does not require an app, an account or a browser extension. Every public video has a link, and a browser-based downloader can turn that link into a normal MP4 file you keep on your device.

What kind of file you get

TikTok serves videos as MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. That combination plays natively in Photos on iOS, Gallery on Android, QuickTime on macOS and the Windows video player, so no conversion step is needed.

Where the file is saved

  • iPhone and iPad: the Files app, in Downloads on iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. Move it into Photos if you want it in your camera roll.

Which videos can be downloaded

Only public videos. If an account is private, the video is age-restricted, or the post has been deleted, no tool can retrieve it, because the link never resolves to a playable file for a signed-out visitor.

Downloading someone else's video does not give you the right to republish it. Ask the creator, or keep the file for personal use.

If the link does not work

  • Make sure you copied the video link and not a profile or search URL.

  • Remove anything you accidentally typed after the link, including trailing spaces.
