How to Transcribe a TikTok Video Into Text

A transcript makes a video searchable, quotable and reusable. Instead of scrubbing back and forth to catch a sentence, you get the whole script as text you can edit in place.

Step by step

1. Get the file: download the MP4 from the video downloader, or the MP3 if you only need speech.
2. Open the TikTok Transcription tool and upload the file.
3. Wait while the audio is processed — a short clip usually takes seconds.
4. Read through the transcript and fix names or slang the model mis-heard.
5. Copy it, or export TXT for notes, SRT/VTT for subtitles, DOCX for documents.

Which file to upload

• MP4, MOV and WEBM video files are accepted.
• MP3, WAV and M4A audio files are accepted.
• Audio-only uploads are smaller and faster, and the accuracy is identical.

What affects accuracy

Clear speech with little background music transcribes almost perfectly. Loud music beds, several people talking over each other, heavy accents and invented product names are where errors appear — which is why the transcript is editable rather than read-only.

Timestamps and subtitles

Turn timestamps on when you want to jump to a moment or build captions. SRT and VTT exports carry those timings, so the file drops straight into a video editor or a web player.

Transcribing someone else's video is fine for personal notes and research; republishing their script as your own content is not.
